The Light Bulb
History
In these days the present of the light in our lives is important. Because if there was no light we will live in the darkness and just depending on the sun light or on candles or on a camping a fire. However that was the situation before the appearance of light. In 1879 a man was known as Thomas Alva Addison had invented an electric light bulb that gives light. Before the light bulb people were using the light gas and sometimes they camp a fire. Thomas wanted to create a light that its not dangerous and its easy to use so he created the light bulb.the light bulb has a touching story in the life of Edison. his mother was seriously ill and there was no light so the doctor had to wait until the morning. Thomas needed to create a light so he went home and tried more than 100 experiments and every time he fail he says “That's great . We have shown that this also means a failure in the access of the invention which we dream” (Thomas adison). Light bulb works when the string is heated to incandescence by an electric current. Today's incandescent light bulbs use filament made of tungsten instead of using carbon. Many inventors had tried to perfect the incandescent lamps to "sub-divide" electric light or make it smaller and weaker than it was in the existing electric arc lamps but there was a big difficulty in doing that .which were useful to light a small spaces such as small room in a house.
Development
In 1892 thomas Edison Company and Thomson Houston Company joined each other to be The General Electric Company. Later on 1902 another man developed the light bulb and he was known as Willis Whitnew. Whitnew created a new kind of a metal carbon filament that would not Cast a shadow on the interior of the bulb. This was the predecessor of the tungsten filament. And in 1906 The General Electric Company patented a method for tungsten filaments to use in incandescent light bulbs. This filament was very expensive to buy and it’s very hard to find. This leads us to the point of melting of ductile tungsten is very high, and low evaporation rate, as well as the tensile strength is much better than steel. In 1910 William David Coolidge methods of tungsten have been improved. This contained a much longer string than other types of yarn and makes it more practical to manufacture and use. In 1925, the frosted light bulb is manufactured. Most of the lamps in use are still the old incandescent lamps. Only 6 percent of the electricity use of light produced by them, and lost the rest in the form of heat. They are cheap to buy and it’s more available to find at any store. And until now the light bulb development improves and there are many different kind of bulbs and now it depends on how many volts the light carries.
The Present Day of The Light Bulb
These days the light bulb has been developed since the appearance of the light bulb. For example there are the clap light that you don’t have to turn the light on with a switch you just have to clap by your hand to switch it on and off. The clap light have a sound sensor that detect a sound of the clap to turn the light on and off. There is the solar light bulb that works with the sun light. The solar takes the sun light to convert it to electricity and charge it to the battery. This kind of lights is used in the highway and the orange traffic light. And fluorescent lamp or fluorescent tube running through the gas discharge lamp by which electricity is used to raise the mercury vapor. Fluorescent Athol lamp converts the electrical energy into a useful and more efficiently light than the incandescent lamp. Fluorescent lamps are used in the school, hospital, or in the office. The normal light bulb lasts about 750 to 1,000 hours in normal use but the fluorescent bulb lasts about 1,200 to 1,500 hours normal use. These kind of light bulbs are used in the hospitals, schools and on the offices. In the future the light bulb will improve and there will be many different of the light bulb in types and the useful of it.
In my opinion the light bulb has been useful sense the first day the light bulb appeared. I think that there will not be a substitution of the light bulb in the future.
